Vacation 2009 Part 2

Sorry everyone but on our vacation I took about 176 pictures. And we were gone for more than a week so there is a lot to post about. The last weekend we were in Destin some of our good friends came down. Amanda & Leon and also Matt. Matt came early Friday and we hung out on the dock most of the afternoon. We did have to come in at one point for a short afternoon rain. Amanda and Leon got there Friday evening and we went to eat at Louisianna Lagniappe (my FAVORITE)! I have never had a bad meal from there, if you are ever in Destin you should definitely go eat there. We had lots of fun.
Saturday morning we all got up and spent all day down at the dock fishing, swimming and of course laying out. We all got a lot of sun. Saturday night we cooked a great dinner. Rob had caught crab in the crab traps all week so we boiled some crab and shrimp and then broiled some fish. I also made some twice baked potatoes to go with everything. That was one of the best meals that we had.

Sunday we got up early and had to get the house cleaned before we left. I can't tell you just what a wonderful vacation this was. It was nice just to get away from everyday life for a bit. It was so amazing getting to spend so much time with my husband. It was like we were on our honeymoon all over again. We have such amazing friends and are so glad that we got to spend part of our vacation with them.

Here are a few more pictures to recap our wonderful time at the beach!

P.S. You can click on the collages to make the pictures bigger. I know most of you probably know that but this message is mainly for my mother...i love you mom!

Vacation 2009

** Just to warn you, this is probably going to be a long post and be prepared for lots of pictures. I might make 2 posts out of it.**

Well, we are back from vacation. We went to our beach house in Destin, FL. for 10 days. We left heading to Destin Thursday July 9th and came home Sunday July 19. It was such a nice getaway! My parents and sister were down there the first weekend we were there and then Rob, Allie and I stayed the rest of the week. The following weekend some of our friends came down. The first weekend started off with my dad wanting to put in a new hot water heater at the house b/c the one there was over 20 yrs. old and we didn't want it busting and flooding the house while we weren't there. Well of course Rob was there to help. They spent all day Friday and most of Saturday putting that thing in. It was definitely a job but at least Rob was there to help.

Friday evening we all got a drink and headed down to our dock to watch one of the many beautiful sunsets.

Saturday we went to and early dinner for my birthday. We ate at a great place called Guglielmo's, it's an Italian and seafood restaurant and it was delicious. Then we went back to the house and mom went ahead and let me open presents. My birthday really wasn't til Sunday. I got a great scrapbook that my mom had put together for me and Rob. It had some of our baby pictures up to when we started dating and she is also giving me another one filled with all of our wedding festivities. My mom is so wonderful! I got money from my grandmother and then a great Gardening book from my Aunt Ty. I can't wait to try it out.

Sunday morning I woke up to a wonderful birthday surprise. My husband surprised me with a beautiful diamond cross necklace. I had told him not to get me anything, that we would just go to a nice dinner but he surprised me anyway. He is such a wonderful husband!! Rob's cousin Blaise joined us Sunday afternoon, he and Rob spent time in the water while I soaked up some sun.

We ate at Harbor Docks Sunday night and then Rob and Blaise went out while Allie and I went to bed.
Monday morning we woke up to it storming outside. Blaise left so Rob and I just layed around most of the day. It stormed all day on Monday. The rest of the week was absolutely beautiful. On Wednesday we went and got massages at the Edge of Paradise Day Spa, they were amazing. We hadn't had a massage since our honeymoon, and our honeymoon was the first time we had ever had one so after that we knew we had to get another one and vacation was the perfect time. We spent all of our days down on the dock fishing and soaking up the sun. Allie had a blast and has turned into a beach dog.

Pictures of our Sunsets....how gorgeous are those?!

Our beach dog! She even swam for the first time!

We had so much fun. We went out to eat every night. We went to Captain Daves which was amazing, we went to Osaka which is a japanese restaurant in Destin and it was great. We ate at the Ocean Club one night and it was amazing. We also ate at The Melting Pot which was a fun experience but I doubt I will eat there again or at least not for a long time, it was way too expensive but at least we tried it. We had fun just fishing, catching some crab and laying out, what more could you ask for!
Since this post is already long enough and you are probably tired of reading it and looking at all the pictures i am going to do a vacation post part two to sum our vacation up. Happy Reading :)!

July 4th Weekend

We started off our weekend with a bang. Friday Rob and I headed to Lanett, AL., yeah I had never heard of it either. It's right above Auburn almost right at the Georgia line. The reason we headed up that way was to get Rob a new truck. We had been looking at trucks for a while and the best deal we found was in Lanett so we headed up there on Friday. We went up there with one offer and one offer only. If they didn't take our offer then we would leave without a truck and keep looking. Well guess what, yeah they took our offer...ahhh!! We were so excited and couldn't believe that we would be heading back to troy in a new truck. It is super nice and Rob couldn't be more excited.

On Saturday the 4th we just cooked out at our house. It was just me, rob, allie and my sister sara. We cooked hotdogs, homemade mac & cheese and cookie brownie bars. We also made some rotel dip. We were able to hear and see some of the fireworks from our house. My sister Sara and I went to see The Proposal, it was hilarious you should really go see it.

It was a quiet but a very good 4th, i couldn't think of a better way to spend it than with my husband, allie dog and sister. I hope that everyone had a wonderful 4th of July. I will leave you with a few pictures from our cookout.

We are headed to Destin for vacation, we will be there for 11 days and I cannot wait. I will post pictures when we get back!

The Gresham's

This past weekend I went up to Birmingham to visit my sister Anna and my brother in law Cole. They just bought a new house and I hadn't seen it yet. I got up there Friday night and took a tour of their new house, which is so nice!

We also ate at Botega Friday night which was wonderful. Saturday we shopped all afternoon and then Saturday night we got to keep this little guy. This is Anna & Cole's nephew Miles. He is absolutely adorable and we had a blast.

It was such an amazing weekend that I didn't want to leave. I always enjoy time that I get to spend with my sister. Thank you Gresham's for having me and I can't wait to come back.

This was not the best picture of us, it was taken pretty late at night.

Canoe/Kayaking Trip

What a great way to kick of the summer by being on the water. This past weekend we went with a group of friends canoeing/kayaking on the Coosa River in Wetumpka, AL. It was so much fun! I haven't canoed since I was probably 13 and that was at church camp. Rob and his family always went canoeing on the summer weekends so he was a pro. Everyone got a kayak except for Rob and I, we got a canoe. I liked the canoe b/c you had more room and they didn't flip over as easily. There were a few rapids we had to go through and everyone kept telling us that we would flip, and if you flip in a canoe it is hard to get back in a canoe. We never flipped. Rob and I worked great together. He was a little worried about me, like whether i would have fun or not since I am a girly girl, but i have to say i was proud of myself. We started on the river at about 9:45 and got done around 3:30. We would stop at rocks every now and then and get in the water to cool off and eat our packed lunches. Rob and I are ready to go again, it was so much fun. This is something we will probably do with our family one day.

This trip to the river was a great way to kick off our summer. Now we are looking forward to our week long vacation in Destin in about 2 wks and I can't wait. I hope everyone is having a great summer so far and not getting to hot.

Here are some pictures from our trip(these were taken with a waterproof disposable camera so the quality of picture isn't that good)

5 Years Together & Our First Wedding Anniversary!

On Sunday May 17 one year ago, we said our vows and promised to be with each other till death do us part. When they pronounced us husband and wife those were the best words I have ever heard! May 17, 2008 was the best day of my life! It was such a beautiful day, the weather was perfect and everything went as planned. Some people say that the first year of marriage is the hardest, but I disagree. Rob and I have had a wonderful first year of marriage and we love each other more and more each day. I couldn't imagine spending the rest of my life without this man. Our lives are just beginning, we have so many more memories to make and I look forward to making them with the man I love.

Today May 22 we celebrate 5 years of being together. It's funny to think back 5 years ago when we first met, all the funny stories and memories we made. If you can't tell, I LOVE this man!

A Recap of our weekend...

This past weekend we headed to Tuscaloosa to see my sister and brother-in-law graduate from the University of Alabama. My sister got her Masters in Journalism and my brother-in-law graduated from Law School. We are all so very proud of them, they have worked really hard.

My sister Sara and I went up Friday night, it was a fun night with wine, pizza and ice cream and some great sister time. My parents came on Saturday morning. It was a LONG day of graduation. It started with my sisters graduation at 1:30, it ended around 3:45. My brother-in-law's graduation started at 5:30. We didn't have time to head home between graduations so we grabbed a snack at Arby's and then proceeded to Cole's(my brother-in-law) graduation. It ended around 6:45 or so and you know we had to take some pictures of course. We left the school a little after 7:30 b/c we had a reservation at 7:30 for dinner. Dinner was GREAT!! We ate at Indian Hill Country Club(i think that is the name). The food and company were wonderful. We got to eat and visit with Cole's family which we probably haven't done in about 4 years.

All in all the weekend was tiring but wonderful. I wouldn't have missed it for the world. We are so absolutely blessed with such an amazing family. I continue to thank God everyday for them.
Here are a few pictures from the weekend:

This coming up weekend Rob and I will be heading to Montgomery for our good friends Leon & Amanda's wedding. Both of us are in the wedding. We will also be celebrating our 1 year anniversary on Sunday. I can't believe it's almost been 1 year. I will have a post on this weekend later.
