Showers, Bad News & Good News

Lately I seem to have been going to a lot of showers. I have a good friend who is getting married in May and I am in the wedding and then I have another friend who will be having a baby next month. This past weekend I headed home b/c on Saturday I had a Bridal Tea to attend and then on Sunday I had a baby shower to go to.
It was such a beautiful weekend and I always enjoy going home and spending time with my mom. Friday afternoon my mom and I did some running around to a few of the little shops at home and then Saturday morning I had the Bridal Tea. Saturday afternoon it was such a beautiful day that I went with my parents and their friends the Long's to our camp house and cooked out, we had a great time! Sunday was the baby shower and it was good to see everybody and she got a lot of cute things. Sorry I didn't take any pictures this weekend. I don't think I have anymore showers to go to for a while.

Ok so in my post I said I had some bad news. Well I guess it's only bad news to us. They are clearing the woods on the left side of our house now :(. When we first purchased our house we were surrounded by woods. You could go out on our back deck and feel like you were in the middle of the woods, it was so nice and peaceful and it was one of the reasons we bought that house. Last year we went on vacation, remember this post, and came home to a cleared lot on the right side of our house. Well here recently they have built a house in the col De sac but our woods on the left side of our house were still there. Well I went home for lunch today and now they are clearing the woods on the left side..ugh! It's just aggravating but I guess there is nothing that we can do about it. At least we still have the woods behind our house. I told Rob that the next house we buy, we are going to buy some acreage along with it so that no one can build right next to us. We have learned our lesson.

The good news that I have is that I am going to be an Aunt to two little precious babies, yes I said TWO! My sister Anna is pregnant with Twins. She is due in August. We found out at Christmas but she is just now telling everybody and now we are allowed to tell, or at least I think we are. I don't think I could keep it a secret any longer, I am so excited for them!! We can't wait to add these two little precious ones to our family!

Snow Day 2010

Just in case no one knew yet, IT SNOWED...haha. I cannot believe that we got so much snow here in Troy, Al. I know they were talking about it on the news but I just didn't think we would get as much as we did and that it would stick to the ground like it did. I ended up being off work Friday since the snow was predicted. I am glad that I was b/c I got to enjoy the snow and didn't have to drive in it. This was Allie's first big snow and at first she didn't know what to think but when Rob got home and we both went outside, she had a blast digging in the snow and chasing snowballs. I ended up taking a lot of pictures b/c who knows when we will see this much snow again. I am only going to post a few of them and 2 short videos of Allie chasing snowballs. I hope that everyone who got snow had a great Snow Day. I don't have to go back to work till Tuesday b/c Monday is President's Day. I am enjoying this LONG weekend!

It is so hard for me to post only one or two pictures. I hope you all enjoy!

A Random Post

I am SO sorry it's been so long since I last posted. We haven't been up to too much around here. Let's see if I can remember things we have done lately. A few weeks ago we had our good friends The Grenon's over for dinner. I made a yummy pork tenderloin, thanks to the great recipe I got from my sister Anna, I also made homemade mac & cheese and then sister schubert rolls. It was a great meal. They brought their son Henry over who was about 2 months old. Allie didn't know what to think about a baby being in our house. Also this was the first time Rob had ever held a baby. Growing up Rob was an only child and he was never around many babies. I got a great picture of Henry and Rob. We always enjoy hanging out with The Grenon's!
At then end of January my friend Casey and I threw a bridal shower for our friend Sherry who is getting married in May. We had the shower in Monroeville since that is where we our from. I was in charge of making chicken salad sandwiches and a cheese ball. I had never made a cheese ball before but it was really easy and everyone loved it. It was a cold day but it was a very nice shower. I am glad we were able to do that for her. Here are a few pictures of us and some of the decorations.
The other morning I got up to get ready for work and I took Allie out to use the bathroom and I looked to my left and saw this beautiful sky, i have never noticed it before and I just thought it was pretty so I grabbed my camera. I am going to leave you with some pictures of our baby girl Allie! I will try to not let it be so long until I post again. Sorry this post was about random things but when I first started this blog last year I warned you that I am a very random person and will usually write about random things, hope you enjoy!

Avatar and A Change.

Last night Rob, my sister Sara and I went to the movies and saw "Avatar". My sister had already seen it and said it was great. And some of our other friends had seen it and said it was great, so before it left the theaters we wanted to see it so we could experience the movie. When I saw the previews for the movie, I wasn't really that interested in seeing it. It just didn't look like my type of movie. Let me just tell you, if you haven't seen this movie you should go now and see it! It was GREAT!! It's 3D and just the whole experience and the graphics were amazing. I'm ready to go watch it again.

Please excuse the way my blog looks right now. I am in the process of changing some things. It takes a little while to do it and right now I am tired of sitting at the computer. I just didn't want anyone to think i was going to leave it looking like this. I hope everyone is have a lovely rainy Saturday. I have been enjoying laying around with my husband and Allie dog.

Christmas, New Year's and a China Cabinet!

Ok, I know it's been a while since I have posted. Now that the busyness of Christmas is over I will try to get better at posting more often. This is just going to be a random post about Christmas and other things that have been going on.

We had such a wonderful Christmas. We start off in Auburn Christmas Eve with my dads side of the family and then Christmas Day we head to Birmingham to be with my moms side of the family. We are so blessed to have such a amazing family. We had a great Christmas with a few surprises! The day after Christmas I got up with my mom at 6 A.M. and we headed out to a few of the Christmas sales. Usually the day after Christmas stores open super early so you have to be there when they are open to get the good deals. That was not the case this year. Mom and I were going really early and there were only a few places open. Most places didn't open til like 8 or 9. We got a few good things, It was just fun spending that time with my mom. The day after Christmas is my sister Anna's birthday so we all gathered for lunch at Botega to celebrate. Afterwards we did a little shopping. All in all it was a great Christmas spent with great family! I am sorry that I didn't take any pictures at Christmas.

New Years, Rob and I went to Montgomery to celebrate with our friends Amanda & Leon. We met up with a few other couples to eat dinner and then we headed to Amanda and Leon's to ring in the new year. We didn't do anything crazy, just watched the ball drop on tv and then we tried to stay up til 12 our time so we could ring in the new year then go to bed...haha, we are gettting old. 2009 sure did go by quickly but I am excited to see what 2010 will bring.

My cousin Julie and her husband Clay just bought a new house in Birmingham so before they moved in they wanted to get rid of a few things they didn't need anymore. One of those thing just so happened to be this corner china cabinet. Our dining room in our house in Troy is pretty small so in order to be able to fit a table in there we would need a corner china cabinet so it wouldn't take up so much room. Well, my cousin offered to sell us hers and I couldn't have been more excited. It wouldn't fit in my car of course so they loaded it in my moms car and my mom brought it to Troy. When we got it put in it's place and all cleaned up and everything put in it, it looks GREAT!! I am so excited to finally have a place to put all my beautiful crystal and china I got when we got married. It had been stored under one of our guest beds and now I can display it. Here are some pictures of this great china cabinet.

I hope that everyone had a great Holiday! And I hope everyone has had a great start to the new year! Be back soon!

Entryway

I have been looking for something for our entryway for a while. It has been bare ever since we moved into our house. I wanted to get an antique and I just hadn't found the right piece. A few weekends ago I went home for a good friends bridal shower and my mom and I decided we would head up to the antique store in my hometown. We started looking around and we found the perfect piece of furniture to go in our entryway. I wanted something with some drawers and cabinets so I could store things in it, I always need more storage space. I am so excited about this piece. Here are some pictures of what the entryway looked like before and after.

Now all I need is a pretty mirror to put above it and I hope to find one this weekend!

Also this past weekend my husband went with one of his good friends down to New Orleans to the Saints vs. Cowboys game. He has never been to an NFL game before and he said he had a blast and it was such a great experience. He ate some good food and hung out with some good friends. I was a little jealous at first but I am glad he got to go and experience that and that he had a good time.

I hope that everyone has a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS!! We are off to Auburn Thursday and Birmingham Friday! I hope everyone has a very safe Hoilday!!

Our Christmas Decorations!

This post is long overdue. I have had my Christmas decorations up since the weekend after Thanksgiving and I am just now getting around to posting them. Ever since the week before Thanksgiving, we have had something to do every weekend! Rob and I set out to get our Christmas tree and I think we got a very pretty one. We brought it home and started decorating it, Rob actually helped out this year with the decorating...haha. I love this time of year, Christmas music and decorations, the only thing I don't like about it is the busyness of the season. I am going post a few pictures of our Christmas decorations this year.

Getting the tree.

Our beautiful Tree!

Rob and I putting the lights on the tree!

This box is just some of our ornaments

Rob and I putting ornaments on the tree and Allie checking everything out.

These are two of my favorite ornaments. The first one is our Auburn ornament(WAR EAGLE) and then the other one is the ornament we brought back from our honeymoon in St. Lucia.

Our front door, I love our wreath that my mom got for us and then the two lighted trees by the door I got at Costco last year.

A few of the decorations around our house.

And the stockings were hung by the chimney with care, in hopes that St. Nick would soon be there.

Thankful

It is the day before Thanksgiving and I just wanted to post a few things that I am always thankful for. I am THANKFUL for mine and Rob's health. I am THANKFUL that we have a roof over our heads and food on the table. I am THANKFUL that Rob and I both have good jobs. I am THANKFUL for our little Allie girl, who brings joy to our life everyday. I am THANKFUL for my wonderful loving husband, I love him more and more everyday. I am also THANKFUL for my amazing family, without them I don't know where I would be. They are loving and supportive, I am very lucky to have such a great family.

I think in everyday life we forget what all we are thankful for. When something isn't going the way we would like it to, we have to remember all the things that we do have in our life to be THANKFUL for. So this Thanksgiving be sure to remember all things and people in your life that you are THANKFUL for.

I hope that everyone has a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving!!!!
