Jack's Birth Story Continued

Everyone was waiting in the waiting room just dying to hear if Jack had made his arrival yet. Anna kept texting Rob to get an update.

Once I started pushing it only took about an hour before Jack made his appearance. It was the most incredible overwhelming experience. I have never been filled with such intense emotion. It was truly amazing. I couldn't believe that after almost two years of trying to get pregnant and after nine months of pregnancy that we were finally holding our son. He was absolutely perfect. We couldn't believe how tiny he was, he only weighed 5lbs 12oz. He was born at 1:50a.m. on September 27, 2011 which also happens to be his Papa's, my dads, birthday. How special is that?! The whole birth experience was great, I couldn't have wished for anything to go any better. We are so very blessed!

It was such a long but exciting day. We worked all day Monday, went into the hospital Monday night at 6pm and had a baby at 1:50a.m Tuesday morning. We had no sleep until Wednesday morning. After I had Jack and they got him all cleaned up and got us to another room it was already 4 in the morning. I had too much adrenaline going to sleep and then by that time we started having visitors. It was such a crazy and amazing day.

Jack Leslie, we are so blessed and honored to be your parents. Who knew that we could love someone as much as we love you! You have truly blessed our lives. We are excited and can't wait to see where this journey takes us. We look forward to watching you grow.

Jack's Birth Story

Sorry I am just now getting around to doing this post. Any of you that have had a newborn know that it's hard to get anything done when your trying to get adjusted and figure each other out. We are finally starting to get a little more adjusted around here. Here is a recap of Jack's birthday!

My entire pregnancy has been wonderful, I have had no problems and I have felt good. On Sunday 9/25/11 I was noticing that I was having a lot of Braxton Hicks contractions, I had been having them but just not as many. They didn't hurt at all but on some of them it would take my breath. I didn't really think anything about it. I didn't sleep good that night, Rob had a suspicion that something was going on but neither of us thought that I would go into labor.

Monday morning 9/26/11 I got up and started getting ready for work. As I was getting ready I started to have some crampy feelings. This is the first time in my entire pregnancy that I had felt any sort of pain or cramp. When I started feeling that I figured ok, I'm starting to have a few contractions. I still didn't think anything of it, I mean women can have contractions for days or weeks. I got ready and I went to work. While sitting at work I was having more contractions but they weren't close together or anything and they didn't really hurt that bad. I worked all day and at 5:00 I left work and headed home. As I was pulling in my neighborhood, I started to have this intense pain. So intense that I had to stop the car in the middle of the road. It only lasted a second and I thought ok this is just a really bad contraction, still not thinking that I'm going into labor anytime soon. I pull into our garage and as soon as I get out of my car, I feel a big GUSH. I think, oh my gosh, I bet my water just broke. I walk in the house and Rob is laying on the couch playing a video game. I put my purse on the counter and I say, "I think my water just broke." Rob looked at me and said "What", I said "I think my water just broke, but let me go to the bathroom first and make sure." Rob jumped up off the couch and started gathering all of our stuff and putting it in the car. I come out of the bathroom and sure enough my water had broken and this was it. I couldn't believe it!
Rob and I jumped in the car and headed to Montgomery to the hospital. I called my parents and my sisters and Rob called his dad. We called a few friends on the way. No one could believe that we were in labor. I was only 38 wks and 3 days. On the ride to the hospital we timed my contractions and they were starting to come every 2 to 3 min. They still weren't super painful at this point. I have never seen Rob drive so fast in my life..haha. We arrive at the hospital around 6 and get checked in. The nurse came in to check me to see if my water had really broken. She had to do a swab test and if it changed color then my water had broken, if it didn't change color then my water hadn't broken. Well the swab didn't change color. I was thinking, are you serious, I know my water broke! The nurse said that didn't necessarily mean anything, that I could just have a high leak. She said that they would watch me for a little bit and see what happens. At this point Rob and I were thinking, they are not going to send us home. We were going to make them at least keep us over night, I mean we live an hour away. By this point my contractions were HURTING! I was always scared that I wouldn't know what a contraction felt like, well there was no mistaking these, it hurt! About an hour later the nurses had a shift change and I got a new nurse. She came in to check me and as soon as she did the rest of my water broke, and at that point I was 4cm. She got my IV started, my contractions were really bad at this point. She told me that they had to give me a bag of fluids and when that was finished they could give me the epidural. She said it would take the fluids about 30 min. to finish. She said that they could give me some pain meds but I said no thank you. I had heard that those pain meds make you tired and loopy and I didn't want to be either of those, I was just going to tough it out for 30 more minutes. Once the fluids finished, the anesthesiologist came in and started my epidural. Well, it didn't take on the left side so she had to redo it. I told her she could redo it as many times as she wanted as long as it worked. The epidural was heaven!! I do not know how or why women do this naturally, there is no way I could have done it. And by having the epidural, I enjoyed the whole experience instead of being in horrible pain the whole time. After the epidural, I visited with everyone. My mom (MaeMae) made it, my sisters made it and Rob's dad (Pop) made it. By midnight I was 9 cm and the nurse told me to get ready that we would start doing some practice pushes until the doc gets here. I started to get nervous again, I know I had the epidural but I still wasn't sure what this whole process was going to be/feel like. Around 12:30a.m. I started pushing....     TO BE CONTINUED!

9 cm...It's almost time!

Jack is here!!

Jack Leslie Mosley arrived into this world about 10 days early on Sept. 27, 2011 at 1:50 a.m. He weighed 5lbs 12oz and was 18 in. long. We are so in love with our little guy.

More pictures and birth story to come. We are running on little sleep and still getting adjusted around here. We are SO blessed!

FULL TERM...37 weeks!!

Pregnancy Highlights:

How far along: 37 weeks!! Jack is considered FULL TERM now, WOW!

Size of Baby: Baby's now the size of a watermelon!(according to thebump.com) Your baby is full-term (yay!) baby is gaining about 1/2 ounce a day and getting his first sticky poop (called meconium) ready. He's also brushing up on skills for the outside world: blinking, sucking, inhaling, exhaling, and gripping (it's getting strong!).

Total Weight Gain/Maternity Clothes: I haven't asked about weight gain lately, I would say close to 20lbs. I wear maternity clothes all the time!

Gender: It's a Boy! Jack Leslie Mosley

Movement: We definitely have one active little boy! We love feeling and seeing all of his movements. His movements have definitely changed, they are no longer little punches and kicks, we can feel and see him rolling all around.

What I miss: I have LOVED being pregnant!!!

Food Cravings: none lately.

Sleep: Very hard to sleep these days. I have so much trouble getting comfortable. Once i'm asleep I am fine, it's just getting to that point.

Symptoms: no crazy symptoms. Having a few more braxton hicks contractions lately.

Best Moment of the Week: Our doctors appointment and getting to hear our little boy's heartbeat, I just love that sound. Getting all of our stuff ready, bags packed, car seat base installed in the cars and camera batteries charged!

What I am Looking forward To: Meeting this little guy and my next doctor's appoitment next week!

I cannot believe that we are full term, it's just so amazing! I feel so lucky and so blessed. For a while I didn't think I would get pregnant and now my baby is fully formed and ready to come into this world at any time.

36 week post!

36 weeks!

This picture was taken at 36 weeks and 2 days. Sorry for the delay of this post but I've just had lots going on. I am now almost 37 weeks. I will be doing my pregnancy highlights post for my 37th week. I have started going to the doctor every week now. I had a check up at 36 weeks and I have made some progress, more progress than I thought. So we could have our little man a little early, but who knows, he has a mind of his own. I am hoping he will hold out just a little longer. Rob and I have been busy getting things together. Our hospital bags are packed and ready to go if we have to get out the door quick. We have been making sure everything in the house is clean and that all Jack's clothes and things are washed and ready to go. It's so hard for me to believe that in 22 days or less we could be holding our son, it's truly amazing to me.

Saturday we enjoyed sitting around watching football. That Auburn game had us on the edge of our seats but luckily our Auburn Tigers pulled off a win!! WAR EAGLE!! Our friend Kay and her son Henry came over Saturday to watch the game with us. We made rotel dip and had pizza! We got a little taste of what it will be like to try to watch a football game with a little kid around...ha ha. We had a great time! I love football season!

Maternity Pictures!

Back at the beginning of August we had maternity pictures done. It was super HOT that day and I just knew we were going to look like a hot mess. I was very happy with the way most of them turned out. I hadn't really planned on having them done but with our photographer, it came with the package we purchased. I am SO happy we did them now. I know that I am going to love going back and looking at these and remembering this precious time. Hospital Bag

Rob and I are going to get our hospital bags ready this weekend, so we can be prepared. So I have a question for all of you moms out there, what all do we need to remember to pack in our bags? I am worried I am going to forget something even though I know it won't be the end of the world if we do forget something, but we want to be as prepared as possible. Thank you!!

Baby Showers!

Back at the beginning of August, we had a baby shower for my cousin Julie and baby George. Julie is due with George 2 weeks before I'm due with Jack. It's been so neat and special to be able to go through this experience with my cousin. It was a very nice shower in Birmingham and she gots lots of cute cute baby stuff. I am so excited for Julie & Clay and we can't wait to welcome little George into this family!

I have always dreamed about having MY baby shower. And now with little Jack on the way, I have had two very special baby showers. On August 19th, my office at work threw us a shower. It was so special and really sweet of all of them to think about our family during this special time in our lives. Rob came and took the pictures for me, such a wonderful husband.

Me and my friend Julie, she surprised me by coming to the shower. She and I are due 3 days apart, she's having a little girl!!

On August 20th I had a very special shower in my hometown of Monroeville, AL. It was thrown by my wonderful Aunt, cousins, sisters and a good family friend. It was such a nice shower and Jack got lots of great things. A few of my friends from out of town came and that really meant a lot to me. It means a lot that all these people love us so much!
My friend Jill made this diaper cake, she did such an amazing job. She came to my shower all the way from Georgia, we hadn't seen each other in a few years so it was very very special and meant so much to me.

 Ok, let me explain this picture. When I opened this gift it took me a minute to realize what it was. It is the car seat adapter for my stroller. Well, I hadn't gotten my stroller yet or so I thought. My mom wrapped the adapter instead of the stroller and that threw me off. She had the stroller at home waiting on me. I was so shocked!! Thank you MaeMae, we love you so much.

I have a million pictures but it is taking too long to download them. So these will have to do. It was such a wonderful shower. I loved every minute of it.
