Easter Weekend!!

Well I think everyone has posted about their Easter, so I figured it was probably time that I blog about ours.
This year was Jack's first Easter, we are so incredibly blessed to have him in our lives. Rob, Jack, Allie and I headed to my parents house Friday afternoon, Good Friday, and spent the entire weekend with them. Friday evening just consisted of playing with Jack and visiting. Saturday we got up and played with Jack some more. MaeMae enjoyed taking pictures of Jack, it's what she does best...haha.

Papa and Jack playing!

Saturday afternoon Rob, Jack and I went around M'ville and did some visiting. We visited my friend Brooke, she has two precious boys. It was great to see and catch up with her and to see those boys.
We also went and visited my great Aunt Alice, Jack's great great Aunt. She is 100 years old, pretty amazing. She is such a special lady and it was great visiting with her.

We then went and visited my very best friend, Stephanie, and her baby girl Molly Anne. Steph and I have been friends since third grade. She now lives in VA so I don't get to see her very much. It was a special treat to get to spend time with her. I wish we could have visited longer but by that time I think Jack had had enough visiting. He was getting very fussy and tired. Here are a few pics from our visit. Jack and Molly Anne were destined to be friends ever since before they were born.

When we got back to my parents house from all our visiting Jack took a good nap, thank goodness and was in a great mood the rest of the evening. Later that day we all headed up to our camphouse with the Long's and enjoyed the beautiful weather. I think Jack loved being outside.

We had a great Saturday and enjoyed being with family and friends!!

Stay tuned for a post from Easter day.....

Watch Jack Grow!!

Six months

Jack turned six months old one week ago. I really cannot believe that our little boy is 6 months old. Time is flying by so fast. It's been so much fun watching him grow and learn new things.
It seems like yesterday he was this little peanut! It's hard to believe that was 6 months ago.
Let's see. Here is what Jack is doing at 6 months:

  • He can sit up for really short periods of time. I put the boppy pillow behind him and he can sit without me touching him for a few seconds before he either falls backwards or leans forward. We are working on it.
  • He is eating baby food now. So far in fruits we have tried apples and banana's and he loves them. In vegetables we have tried squash, peas, carrots and sweet potatoes and he likes all of them. He loves to sit in the high chair. As soon as we put him in it, he knows that it's time to eat and opens his mouth wide. He usually eats a bottle when he wakes up in the morning and then around 8 he eats rice cereal and a fruit. Then he usually takes a nap. He will then wake up, play a little and then eat another bottle. Then an hour or two later he will eat 2 veggies. He usually like squash and peas mixed, I know, sounds yummy! I am very proud with how well he has done with baby food.
eating his cereal and apples!

  • He is wearing a size 3 diaper now. I don't know why but when he goes up in diaper size it makes me a little sad. My baby is growing up.
  • He is wearing 6m and 6-9m  clothing, just depends on what it is. I have got to start packing up all of his newborn and three month clothes :(. It's crazy how fast they grow out of things.

  • He is such a laid back baby. He usually only gets fussy when he is tired or hungry. He is a great sleeper, he has been since about 3 months. He takes about two, two hour naps a day and then a 20-30min nap in the late afternoon. He goes to bed by 6:45 or 7:00 every night and doesn't wake up until 6:30 the next morning. When he wakes up he just lays in his bed and talks and plays until someone come in to get him. He is a great baby!!
  • He is teething and loves putting everything in his mouth. He grabs for all of his toys.
  • It's so fun because he knows who Rob and I are now. When I pick him up from daycare in the afternoon, when I walk in he gets a huge smile on his face and starts laughing. When he is laying down and Rob or I walk up to him he starts getting excited because he just knows that we are going to pick him up.
  • He still loves bath time and has starting kicking and splashing!

  • We went to the doc today for his 6m check up. He weighs 16lbs. 6oz (30%), he is 26in. (40%). He had to get shots again but he did great. The doc says he is right on track developmentally and said he looks great. He said we can now start trying a sippy cup just to start giving him practice. He likes to hold his bottle sometimes(not for very long), so we will see how he does with a sippy cup. I am not ready for my baby to feed himself yet!
waiting on the doc!
  • He is so much fun these days. I am loving this stage!! I know we have so much to look forward to. I know I am going to forget to document something, when I sit down to type these posts I always think of something that I wish I had written.
Jack and I went to Birmingham this past weekend to walk in the Rumpshaker 5K which raises money for colon cancer. We walked in honor of my mom! We got to Birmingham Friday night and stayed with my cousin Julie and her husband Clay. They have a baby boy who was born 1 week before Jack. Jack and George who are second cousins enjoyed playing with each other! It was lots of fun to get them together!

Ready for the Rumpshaker 5K!!

To say we love this boy is an understatement. He is our whole world! Who knew that someone so tiny could change our lives forever and for the better. Jack, you bring so much joy to our lives. Your dad and I love watching you grow. You are such a cute and sweet little boy. We love all of your facial expressions and love watching you figure out new things. You are the light of our lives! We love you so much and you will always be our baby!!

Jack's Baptism

We headed to Monroeville, Al. Friday evening a few weekends ago and spent the weekend at my parents house. My sister was there with her three precious babies and my sister Sara came in town late saturday evening. We had such a great time. It was fun to all be together and watch all the babies play.

It was such a beautiful weekend. Ellen and Cole enjoyed playing and running around outside. My parents have this little red wagon and the twins had so much fun riding in it and pulling it. Jack and William still aren't too mobile these days so they would just sit and watch what Ellen and Cole were doing. Once we put the twins down for a nap we decided to put Jack and William's bumbo seats in the wagon and take them for a ride. It was sooo cute. They weren't sure what to think but I'm pretty sure they just enjoyed being outside. It was also the perfect picture moment and we got plenty of cute ones.

Rob and his twin!!
We had some wonderful surprise visitors late Saturday afternoon from the Spencer's. It was so great to see them!!

Saturday evening my Aunt Ty and my cousin Erin came in town and they ate dinner with us. Luckily all the babies go down fairly early so we were able to enjoy a glass of wine (or 2), a delicious dinner and visiting.

Sunday, March 11, 2012 Jack was baptized at the First United Methodist Church, my home church. It was such a special day!! It was so wonderful having our family there for such a special occasion!
Our families christining gown

Our beautiful boy! So before you say anything about him being in a dress, it's not a dress, it's a gown. It's been in our family for 63 years. It was made for my dad's sister. His sister's wore it, he wore it and most everyone on my dads side of the family wore it. Me and my sisters wore it and my sisters babies, Ellen and William wore it. It is so special to have such a treasure that has been passed down in our family!!

After church we went back to my mom's house and took some pictures then ate a yummy breakfast. My wonderful mother had made a breakfast casserole, grits and a coffee cake and my incredible Aunt Ty brought some wonderful fruit!

The grandparents!!
My aunt Ty and cousin Erin. They came all the way from Birmingham to be there for Jack's special day!

We are blessed with such an AMAZING family!!

My mom had this made to hang in Jack's room

Rice Cereal

This was Jack's first taste of rice cereal and he did really good. Allie wanted some too...haha. Please excuse my voice in the video, I never think about it while I'm filming and then when I go back to look at the video I think, why do I even open my mouth.
I have another funny video of Jack eating rice cereal but that one might just get sent to family. It's kind of a long one. We will be starting veggies very soon, so when we do don't worry I will get it on camera.
I try to do really good at taking pictures and video and I'm so glad I do bc I am going to enjoy going back and looking at all of these!
