Football is in the Air...

Can you feel it? Football is in the air. I know that high school football has already begun, but I am talking about good ole College Football. I have to say, I LOVE football season. I love get togethers with friends, good food and just the excitement all around. It is fun to get up on Saturday mornings and look forward to some good football all day. I am usually not a huge football fan but when it comes to College Football and especially Auburn Football, I can't help but get excited. I know that all my friends aren't Auburn fans but I just love college football in general.

Auburn football kicks off a week from Saturday and I can just hear it now....WARRRR EAGLE HEY!!!

Movie Review

Last night my sister Sara and I had a movie night. Troy students were able to get in the movie for $1.00, they are going to start doing that every wednesday night. So of course Sara was able to get in for one dollar and I had to pay full price :(. When I went up to pay for my ticket she asked if I had this blue ticket that all the students had and I said no, I am not a student. She was like oh I'm sorry you look like a student, so I thanked her and then she said, that'll be eight dollars...ugh. We went and saw the Time Traveler's Wife. I have very mixed emotions about this movie. I LOVE Rachel McAdams, I have loved every movie she has been in, especially The Notebook. This movie was just a little out there, I mean time travel, really. Rachel McAdams was great but the movie was just ok. It was just a little slow and some of the time I wasn't sure what was going on. I am glad that I went to see it, but it's not a movie I would want to see again.

Lunch Date!

I had the most wonderful lunch date on Saturday with my old friend Jill. She and I went to Auburn together and were BEST friends. It has been about 4 years since we have seen each other. See, she lives in Virginia and I'm here in Alabama so it's been hard for us to get together. She was in Alabama b/c her brother and sister in law just had a baby. We were able to get in touch with each other and we met in Montgomery for lunch. We had such a great time catching up on each others lives. I have really missed her! Sometimes I wish we could go back to those good ole Auburn days, we had some really good times. We will not make it another four years before we see each other again!

Sister Weekend!

"Sisters by Birth, Friends by choice"
My sister Sara and I headed out Friday afternoon headed towards Birmingham. We went up there to visit our sister Anna and have a Sister weekend. We got there late Friday afternoon and just hung around the house. Stefanie Long an old family friend stopped by and it was so great to see her so we all visited for a few. Friday evening around 7 we went and ate at Chez Fonfon, a wonderful French restaurant. After our wonderful meal, our bellies were full and we were headed to see a movie. It started at 10:05 and we didn't get out till 12:30, and yes i know it is hard for you to believe, the people who know me, that I stayed up for the late movie. We saw Julie & Julia and it was a great movie, it made me want to go home and cook, well not really but it was a good idea anyway. It was a cute movie and if you haven't seen it you really should.

We woke up Saturday morning and went to Lowe's to look at tile and bathtubs for me because Rob and I are redoing our guest bathroom and then Anna had to get some heavy duty hooks to hang up her new mirror. After Lowe's we went to visit my grandmother, she had just gotten new carpet in her apartment and we had to help her get things put back in order since she can't see very well. After that visit we headed to pick up Cole at his parents house because they had just gotten back from the beach. Saturday night Sara met up with her old roommate Casey for dinner and Anna, Cole & I headed to dinner at this wonderful sushi restaurant called Jinsei, if you love sushi then this is the place to go, it was great!
Sunday I got up before anyone else and was talking to Rob on the phone when I heard a knock at Anna & Cole's door. They were getting their new tv delivered and Best Buy had said they would deliver it between 9 and 11 on Sunday, but the knock at the door was at 8:20 so they decided to deliver it early. I opened to door and the stinkin' alarm system went off. I am not used to anyone having an alarm system and I totally forgot they had one. I didn't know what to do, I could just picture in my head all these cop cars surrounding the house. Anna came running out to turn it off and then the alarm company called to make sure everything was ok. Needless to say, everyone in the house was awake now.
We had such a wonderful weekend. I always love when I get to spend some time with my sisters. I hope we do it again very soon. I hope that everyone who reads my blog had a great weekend as well.

Boy's Weekend

This past weekend our friend Aaron was in town. He lived next to Rob when they first moved to Troy and were in school here. He is in the Navy now and he was back in the States for a little bit. Usually when he comes back we all have a get together. This year we had it here in Troy at our house. All the guys came in town and we grilled out pork tenderloin and had twiced baked potatoes and baked beans. The only girls were me and one of the guy's wife, it is always fun for me to see Rob having a good time with his friends. We had a good weekend with some good friends. Here is a picture of the guys:

Neighbors

When we came home from vacation this is what was happening next door to us.

^
This is our house

Once there were woods and now they are clearing the lot. Before you couldn't even see our house until you got to the end of the street and now you can see our whole house. That lot has been for sale since before we bought our house over a year ago. And stupid us didn't think to look into it to see how much is was selling for b/c just maybe we could have bought it and prevented this from happening. Needless to say we were in shock when we came back home, we were not expecting this at all. Since there was nothing we could do about it now, the least we could hope for was to get some good neighbors.
Last week Rob was working out in the yard and this SUV pulled up and started taking pictures of the cleared lot. So Rob walked over and they began talking and come to find out they are going to be our new neighbors. I came home from work and Rob told me all about it, that they talked for a while and that he was a really nice guy. This past weekend when Rob and I were about to leave to go get some food they were next door again and this time his finace' was with him. I got to meet both of them and they are very nice. We are really happy that they will be moving next door to us.
We hate that our woods are gone but hopefully we are gaining some nice neighbors.

Vacation 2009 Part 2

Sorry everyone but on our vacation I took about 176 pictures. And we were gone for more than a week so there is a lot to post about. The last weekend we were in Destin some of our good friends came down. Amanda & Leon and also Matt. Matt came early Friday and we hung out on the dock most of the afternoon. We did have to come in at one point for a short afternoon rain. Amanda and Leon got there Friday evening and we went to eat at Louisianna Lagniappe (my FAVORITE)! I have never had a bad meal from there, if you are ever in Destin you should definitely go eat there. We had lots of fun.
Saturday morning we all got up and spent all day down at the dock fishing, swimming and of course laying out. We all got a lot of sun. Saturday night we cooked a great dinner. Rob had caught crab in the crab traps all week so we boiled some crab and shrimp and then broiled some fish. I also made some twice baked potatoes to go with everything. That was one of the best meals that we had.

Sunday we got up early and had to get the house cleaned before we left. I can't tell you just what a wonderful vacation this was. It was nice just to get away from everyday life for a bit. It was so amazing getting to spend so much time with my husband. It was like we were on our honeymoon all over again. We have such amazing friends and are so glad that we got to spend part of our vacation with them.

Here are a few more pictures to recap our wonderful time at the beach!

P.S. You can click on the collages to make the pictures bigger. I know most of you probably know that but this message is mainly for my mother...i love you mom!

Vacation 2009

** Just to warn you, this is probably going to be a long post and be prepared for lots of pictures. I might make 2 posts out of it.**

Well, we are back from vacation. We went to our beach house in Destin, FL. for 10 days. We left heading to Destin Thursday July 9th and came home Sunday July 19. It was such a nice getaway! My parents and sister were down there the first weekend we were there and then Rob, Allie and I stayed the rest of the week. The following weekend some of our friends came down. The first weekend started off with my dad wanting to put in a new hot water heater at the house b/c the one there was over 20 yrs. old and we didn't want it busting and flooding the house while we weren't there. Well of course Rob was there to help. They spent all day Friday and most of Saturday putting that thing in. It was definitely a job but at least Rob was there to help.

Friday evening we all got a drink and headed down to our dock to watch one of the many beautiful sunsets.

Saturday we went to and early dinner for my birthday. We ate at a great place called Guglielmo's, it's an Italian and seafood restaurant and it was delicious. Then we went back to the house and mom went ahead and let me open presents. My birthday really wasn't til Sunday. I got a great scrapbook that my mom had put together for me and Rob. It had some of our baby pictures up to when we started dating and she is also giving me another one filled with all of our wedding festivities. My mom is so wonderful! I got money from my grandmother and then a great Gardening book from my Aunt Ty. I can't wait to try it out.

Sunday morning I woke up to a wonderful birthday surprise. My husband surprised me with a beautiful diamond cross necklace. I had told him not to get me anything, that we would just go to a nice dinner but he surprised me anyway. He is such a wonderful husband!! Rob's cousin Blaise joined us Sunday afternoon, he and Rob spent time in the water while I soaked up some sun.

We ate at Harbor Docks Sunday night and then Rob and Blaise went out while Allie and I went to bed.
Monday morning we woke up to it storming outside. Blaise left so Rob and I just layed around most of the day. It stormed all day on Monday. The rest of the week was absolutely beautiful. On Wednesday we went and got massages at the Edge of Paradise Day Spa, they were amazing. We hadn't had a massage since our honeymoon, and our honeymoon was the first time we had ever had one so after that we knew we had to get another one and vacation was the perfect time. We spent all of our days down on the dock fishing and soaking up the sun. Allie had a blast and has turned into a beach dog.

Pictures of our Sunsets....how gorgeous are those?!

Our beach dog! She even swam for the first time!

We had so much fun. We went out to eat every night. We went to Captain Daves which was amazing, we went to Osaka which is a japanese restaurant in Destin and it was great. We ate at the Ocean Club one night and it was amazing. We also ate at The Melting Pot which was a fun experience but I doubt I will eat there again or at least not for a long time, it was way too expensive but at least we tried it. We had fun just fishing, catching some crab and laying out, what more could you ask for!
Since this post is already long enough and you are probably tired of reading it and looking at all the pictures i am going to do a vacation post part two to sum our vacation up. Happy Reading :)!
