One year ago on September 27, 2011 at 1:50 am, our lives changed forever!! To see his birth story you can go
here and
here.
Our sweet Jack Leslie Mosley entered this world, wide eyed and screaming, he was ours, everything that we had hoped for times a thousand!
His smile, his noises, his every move has brought us a love and happiness we never knew until we became parents. We have been blessed by him and blessed that God has made this first year a very healthy year in his life.
I know everyone always says this, but this first year has flown by. I just can't believe that our tiny little baby is now 1. This year has been the best year of our lives. To become a mother has been the most amazing and rewarding experience of my life. I have always known that I wanted to be a mom, but being a mom to this little boy has been truly amazing.
At 12 months Jack is:
- He is crawling. He started crawling at 11 months. He is into everything and I mean everything. When he wants to get something he can move pretty fast.
- He has just started pulling up on things. He still hasn't gotten steady to pull up on everything but on most things he can figure it out.
- I put shoes on him for the first time this week. At first he wasn't too sure what they were, he just sat there looking and grabbing at them. He finally started crawling with them on but it took him a little bit to figure out how to pull up with them on. He looks like such a big boy to me in shoes.
- In the eating dept. he is completely on whole milk now. No more formula....YaY, and a little sad at the same time. I decided to go cold turkey with him. Instead of mixing formula with a little milk I figured we would just try giving him straight milk and seeing what he did, if he hated it then I would mix with formula. He loved it and he hasn't looked back! So cold turkey definitely worked for us switching him to milk. He has milk first thing in the morning, mid-morning, afternoon and before bed.
I have now started giving him pieces of an Eggo waffle in the mornings. It's the whole grain kind, I put it in the toaster and toast it for a few minutes and then tear it into little pieces for him. He has gotten real good at feeding himself now as far as pick up foods go. He only eats half a waffle. He is still eating oatmeal and a stage 2 fruit. At lunch he is eating a stage 2 veggie and fruit. We are starting to introduce stage 3 now, he's not quite sure about those chunks.
- He is only drinking out of sippy cups now. We took away the bottle when we started giving him whole milk. This made me a little sad. Until now he was still getting a bottle in the morning and right before bed and the sippy cups during the day. I think it was more me holding on to the bottle than him. He has done great with sippy cups :)!
- He no longer takes a paci. The only times before that he would have a paci would be at nap and bed time. Well we took it away and he has done good!!
- He says Dada a lot and will say MaMa every now and then. He can wave bye bye and every now and then will say it. That's about all he's doing in the talking department other then a lot of gibberish.
- He has just started blowing kisses, it's so cute.
- He is still wearing a size 3 diaper. He is wearing 12 months clothes in everything.
- He still sleeps great at night and has since he was about 3 months old. We have been very lucky. He goes to bed around 6 or 6:15 every night and wakes up around 6:15 or 6:30 the next morning.
- He is now going through a phase or at least I hope it's a phase where he is scared of strangers. Even people he sees every now and then he is scared of. If he doesn't know you, he is not going to let you hold him, touch him or even talk to him without crying. He is around people all the time so I'm not sure what is going on. Even if someone he doesn't know is in the room paying him no attention, he will not let you put him down. I am hoping this phase won't last long!
- He loves scrunching his nose. If you tell him No he will look at you and scrunch his nose, it's like he saying did you really just tell me No.
- He loves Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, we have it on every morning, that and Chuggington. He loves the hot dog song on Mickey Mouse. Usually Rob is home and when the song comes on he will pick Jack up and they will dance to it, it's so cute. Or if the song comes on Jack will be glued to the tv just smiling.
- His laugh is so contagious. It's the sweetest cutest sound you've ever heard.
- He has two teeth, both on the bottom with many more that I can see that are about to come in. He's been a little fussy with it but nothing terrible.
We have been so lucky. Jack has been great at transitioning to new things and this month has been a big month of transitions and Jack hasn't missed a beat. He is such an easy baby!!
Jack I really cannot believe that you are a year old. I know every one says it but the time has really flown by, it has gone much faster than I ever thought it would. You have such a great personality and are such a happy baby. You have brought so much joy to our lives. We enjoy watching you grow and change every day. You are our world Jack Leslie.
